WELCOME ADDRESS BY THE CHAIRMAN, EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF THE OGBOMOSO COMMUNITY (OCF) MAJOR GENERAL OLADAYO POPOOLA (RTD) OFR AT THE 8TH ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE FOUNDATION WHICH WAS HELD AT RECREATION CLUB ON SATURDAY 14TH NOVEMBER, 2009

Leader, Asiwaju S. A. Adewusi, GCON

Dear distinguished members,

I welcome you dearly and most sincerely to the 8th Annual General Assembly of our foundation. In welcoming you, I must let you know that the reports you are going to receive from different officials of the Foundation may not be encouraging because we had very few or far in between activities in the past year. The reason is not far fetched is lack of funds.

The EXCO in outgoing year met 8 times at Ibadan in support of the constitution of OCF which allows a minimum of 6. The General Secretary, the Treasurer and the Chairmen of Technical Committees will give details of our activities in the year. However, let me outline one or two areas. We coordinated a lecture to celebrate our own General Benjamin Adekunle. We were also involved in the rehabilitation efforts of the General. We prepared and presented a blueprint on the development of Ogbomosoland to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of the State, Otunba (Dr.) Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Our activities were limited because of lack of funds. At the last Annual General Assembly, 93 individuals and 7 societies registered their attendance. Amount collected was N150,000.00. Donations received totaled N95,200.00. I have given all these to show the situation of things. Efforts on fund raising are ongoing and might be discussed at this meeting. This being an election year, the EXCO has put plans in place for a free and fair election.

My welcome speech will be this brief and pregnant so that the Leader’s address will be more important and embracing. On behalf of all members of the EXCO, I want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you and even our fatherland.

Once again, I welcome you all.

Ogbomoso a gbe wa o. Amin.
